Carrying the Message Behind the Walls

Have you found Alcoholics Anonymous while incarcerated? Or have you had the privilege of carrying the message into a correctional facility?

The General Service Board is gathering experience, strength, and hope from members across Australia who have known AA on the inside — whether as a prisoner or as a member bringing meetings in.

This work follows an Advisory Action of the 2024 General Service Conference. Its purpose is simple: to help ensure that alcoholics behind the walls know that recovery is possible, and that AA is there for them.

Many of us know how close we came to losing everything. Some of us did. But in AA we find that no one is beyond hope, and no one is alone.

If you would like to share your experience of AA in correctional facilities — how you found it, what it meant to you, or what you have learned in service — we warmly invite you to contribute.
