What Does a National Coordinator Do?

What Is a National Coordinator?

A National Coordinator is a trusted servant who helps support and connect a specific area of AA service across Australia.

They help share experience, support communication, and encourage participation in that area of service.

How the National Coordinator Supports AA

National Coordinators help strengthen service by connecting members and sharing experience across Areas.

This often includes:

  • supporting communication between Areas
  • sharing experience and resources
  • helping coordinate service activities at a national level
  • encouraging participation in service

Carrying the Message in the Community

National Coordinators often support service areas that help carry AA’s message more broadly.

This may include:

  • public information
  • cooperation with professionals
  • treatment and correctional facilities
  • other service areas that support outreach

The aim is to help ensure that AA remains accessible across the country.

How the National Coordinator Fits into AA

National Coordinators work alongside the General Service Board and Areas.

Through this connection:

  • experience is shared across the Fellowship
  • service efforts are better connected
  • Areas are supported in carrying the message

The role is based on service, not authority.
