Call for Stories – Bring Hope To The Inside

Bring hope to those inside

Dear AA Members and Trusted Servants,

We are seeking your support for a new initiative, following an Advisory Action of the 2024 General Service Conference.

We are developing an anthology of stories from Australian AA members who have either:

  • experienced incarceration themselves, or
  • carried the message of AA into correctional facilities.

This project aims to offer hope and connection to alcoholics currently behind prison walls—still within reach of AA and our message of recovery.

19360 reporting alcohol-related harm

As of June 2024, more than 44,000 adults are incarcerated across Australia. Of these, 44% reported alcohol-related harm in the 12 months prior to their imprisonment. These numbers remind us: But for the Grace of God…

Your Story of Hope

If you — or someone in your group or AA network — has a story to share, we warmly invite you to contribute. Stories can be submitted in the following ways:

  • In writing (via email or post)
  • As a digital voice recording from your phone or computer, or
  • We can arrange to record your story with you via phone or Zoom

Please send your stories or enquiries to:
